A female hormone drug that is effective in treating menopausal symptoms caused by estrogen deficiency, irregular menstruation, and hormone replacement therapy. Female hormones include estrogen (follicular hormone) and progesterone (luteal hormone), but the active ingredient in ETINILA, ethinyl estradiol, is an estrogen.
Ethinyl estradiol, an orally effective estrogen, acts on the hypothalamus in the brain to suppress ovulation. It also reduces the weight of the prostate and seminal vesicles and reduces blood testosterone levels, thereby treating prostate cancer.
For prostate cancer and breast cancer, the usual dose is 0.5 to 1 mg of ethinyl estradiol administered orally three times a day. However, this can be increased or decreased depending on age and symptoms.
The dosage and administration method based on the results of the reevaluation of the active ingredient is as follows: for prostate cancer and breast cancer, the usual adult dosage is 0.05 to 1.0 mg of ethinyl estradiol, to be taken orally three times a day.
Ethinylestradiol BP 0.05mg
